The Local 3089 Jefferson County 911 Dispatchers and Correctional Officers union will continue its tradition of holiday giving on Monday.

Thanks to contributions from its members and the union a presentation will be held at the Metro – Jefferson Public Safety Building to present a variety of gifts to representatives from four area school districts. The gifts will then be presented to selected families in each of the districts.

Twenty-one children from six families will benefit this year from the generosity of Local 3089, as well as the Watertown City Police Benevolent Association. Since 2001, in what has become an annual rite, approximately 300 children have received gifts, which have included clothing, toys, stockings and also gift certificates/cards for groceries. The packages are wrapped and organized by union members.

This is the 15th year the local has been making contributions to the local schools. A special thanks to Dispatcher Amy Cummings who has been leading this program from the start and to those that wrapped all the gifts.

Kevin D Sheridan Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament

You are cordially invited to participate in the first annual Kevin D. Sheridan Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament. Kevin’s wife Dodee has established a Foundation in Kevin’s name which will benefit the National Autism Society along with the development of a Scholarship program for local youth. If you had the pleasure of knowing Kevin than you know that the term “Larger than Life” was the best way to describe his character. He gave his heart and soul to his union work as well as his endeavors regarding the Emerald Society and Emerald Society Pipe band. The details of the event are outlined in the Tournament flyer which is enclosed for your convenience.

Please help us to get his Foundation off to resounding start by participating in the event or becoming a sponsor.
